The Department of Canadian Heritage conducted a literature review in May 2016 focused on the Economic Advantages of Bilingualism.

“Despite 40 years of research indicating that parent involvement is important for student achievement, schools have done little to engage parents across Canada. This study and model recommend strategies to enhance the probability of educational involvement for parents who do not speak the school language.”
Enhancing involvement
This study concludes that “the most effective form of involvement for supporting children’s learning is personal involvement; that is, parents communicating positively with children about school to convey that they value education and expect their children to as well.”
